15 Motorists Prosecuted after Flashing Blue Lights

Fifteen motorists were prosecuted in St. Catherine last Thursday after they were spotted with flashing, blue lights on their vehicles.

The operation was carried out by the police in tandem with the Island Traffic Authority.

Head of the Police Traffic Division, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, says the the licence plates of the vehicles found in breach were removed and the operators ticketed.

Senior Superintendent Allen is reminding people that only police vehicles are to have blue lights. He says people who do this are indirectly impersonating the police.

Last month, Head of the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU, Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay revealed that an unmarked vehicle used in a robbery had flashing lights.

The victim was was robbed of his licensed firearm and more than $1-million in cash, by men posing as police officers driving a car with flashing blue lights.
