One of the eight men who escaped from the Savanna-la-Mar Police Lock-up in Westmoreland last month, has been killed by the Police.
He’s 18 year-old Dushane Grayson also known as ‘Coolie Man’.
Grayson was shot dead during an alleged confrontation with the police in the parish early yesterday morning.
Grayson was facing a murder charge.
Reports are that about 4am, members of a Mobile Reserve team were on operation in the Prospect community when they noticed that the front door to a two-bedroom board house was open.
The police team reportedly entered the house, where they were allegedly confronted by a man who aimed a gun in their direction.
According to the police, as they took cover, one of their colleagues fired a shot in the direction of the gunman.
The police say Grayson was subsequently found at the back of the house suffering from a gunshot wound.
A 9-millimeter Glock pistol with one round of ammunition was seized during the incident
The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM is probing the matter.
In the meantime Commander of the Area One Police, Assistant Commissioner, Paul Ferguson, says the other men who escaped custody remain at large.
Those who remain at large are 21-year-old Romaine Esson, otherwise called ‘Skenko’, 23-year-old Odane Brown, otherwise called ‘Fee Fee’, 26-year-old Alton Maxwell, and a man known as Junior James.
Ricardo Kerr, otherwise called ‘Jawbone’, Steve Vassell and Carlington Godfrey.
The men are facing a variety of charges including murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.
