30 Persons Rushed to Hospital After St Thomas Bus Crash

At least 30 people were rushed to hospital following a collision between a Coaster bus and a Mazda Primacy motor vehicle on the Albion main road in St. Thomas.

The collision happened at about 11 this morning. The Police say the driver of the Mazda– who was travelling towards Albion in the parish — was overtaking the Coaster bus when the crash occurred.

The two drivers and the passengers aboard the bus sustained multiple injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Head of the Traffic Police, Senior Superintendent Calvin Allen, confirmed the incident.

He says there were no fatalities. But, Senior Superintendent Allen says several of those taken to the hospital were seriously injured.

In the meantime, Senior Medical Officer at the Princess Margaret Hospital in St. Thomas, Dr. Cecil Batchelor, says the institution received 23 of the injured people. He says about six persons have been treated and released.
