‘A Plot to Destabilize’: MoBay Mayor on Crimewave

Six persons have been shot dead in St. James within the last 24 hours.

The shootings took place while the police conducted a high level operation in response the the murder spike.

Among the dead is a woman who was gunned down on Harbor Street in Montego Bay.

Police reports are that during last night two double murders occurred – one in Norwood and the other in Rose Heights.

While a murder was reported in Roehampton also in St. James.

This week has been one of the bloodiest in the St James Police Division, which has so far recorded more than 120 murders since the start of the year.

Commander of Police Area One is Assistant Commissioner, Paul Ferguson.

The killings prompted an emergency meeting with several business, faith and civil society organizations and the Police.

Mayor of Montego Bay Glendon Harris says he believes there’s an orchestrated plot in train to destabilize the parish of St. James.

Mayor Harris was speaking on the heels of last night’s gun attacks where at least 6 persons were murdered in parish.

He says the time has come for every person in the parish to set aside their differences and unite to fight criminality.
