Accused Baby Thief Pointed Out in ID Parade

The woman who’s accused of stealing a baby from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, last month, has been charged with child stealing.

Crime Chief for the West Kingston Police Division, Detective Inspector Phillip Dodd, told our News Centre a short while ago that the accused, 28-year-old Peta-Gaye Ffrench, was positively identified on parade this afternoon.

Ffrench is accused of stealing a baby boy from the maternity hospital on January 9, less than 24-hours after his birth. She was arrested last week, almost one month after the baby was stolen.

Ffrench was taken into custody after she tried to register the baby at the Registrar General’s Department, RGD. A staff member became suspicious and contacted the Central Village Police. DNA tests later proved the baby’s biological parents are Suzette Whyte and Sinclair Hutton.

Detective Inspector Dodd says preliminary investigations have revealed that Ffrench may have been pregnant not long before stealing the child on January 9.
