The Ministry of Agriculture is warning persons to be extra careful when buying green ginger.
In a statement today, the Ministry says that green ginger, treated with the chemical, Topsin, was stolen from its research station at Orange River, St. Mary between last Friday and Sunday.
Topsin is a fungicide use to contain diseases on plants.
A report from the Research Station indicates that approximately 450 pounds were stolen.
The Ministry says if this ginger is consumed within seven days of treatment, it can lead to severe vomiting, diarrohea and headache.
