ATM scammers are on the loose in several parts of the island.

They’ve fleeced scores of bank customers of millions of dollars over the last 72 hours. Nationwide News understands that the Police have launched a high level investigation into the scam.

It’s understood that the criminals tamper with the Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, using devices that capture people’s secret pin numbers.

Clarendon, St. Ann, Westmoreland, St. James and sections of the Corporate Area have been worst affected during the course of yesterday and today.

There are also reports of similar cases in Negril.

Commanding Officer for the Clarendon Police, Senior Superintendent Fitz Bailey, says 15-people in the parish whose banks accounts were emptied gave statements yesterday.

He says many more complaints were made today.
