Health Minister, Horace Dalley, is appealing to Jamaicans to donate blood as part of their act of kindness this festive season.
He’s appealing for blood because the National Blood Transfusion Service is low on supplies.
Minister Dalley says the giving of blood is an act of kindness that saves lives.
The Health Minister says violence and unintentional injuries such as those caused by motor vehicle crashes continue to put a heavy burden on the health system.
He says these incidents also place a severe strain on the blood supply.
Minister Dalley says blood is also needed to treat cancer patients, persons with bleeding disorders, chronic anaemias and is even required to save the lives of some pregnant women.
