Senior Medical Officer at the Mandeville Public hospital, Dr. Everton McIntosh is pleading for more people to donate blood as he says only 25% of the requirements from the blood bank is currently being met.

He made the disclosure while speaking on Cliff Hughes Online with Mark Wignall at Miss Kitty’s blood drive in the Nelson Mandela Park in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew.

He’s encouraging persons to use the blood collection centre at the hospital.

The centre is open up to 8 in the evening and and also open on weekends.

Meanwhile, Dr. McIntosh says there’s a need for a larger staff complement at the hospital to cater to the increasing local population.

He says the hospital is also in need of expansion.
