The Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, BITU, is calling for the intervention of Public Service Minister, Horace Dalley, amid rising tension between workers and management at the Bank of Jamica rising tension at the central bank.
BITU President, Senator Kavan Gayle, says the workers are agitated about the delayed start to wage negotiations.
Senator Gayle says the union submitted the workers’ wage claim in March and had a clarification meeting with the management of the BOJ in early May.
He says nothing has happened since.
The new wage deal being sought by BOJ workers will cover the period April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2017.
Senator Gayle says he expects some action from Minister Dalley by the end of the week to facilitate an early settlement of the claims.
