Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, says 25,000 jobs will be created in the Business Process Outsourcing, BPO, sector by the start of the next fiscal year.
He says the BPO sector in Jamaica is expanding at an encouraging pace.
Mr. Holness says the government is moving to address a shortage of trained personnel in Jamaica to work in the BPO sector.
Prime Minister Holness was addressing the opening of a new BPO facility on Half Way Tree Road in St. Andrew yesterday.
That facility was opened by Stanley Motta; a subsidiary of the Musson Group. It’s expected to create five thousand jobs by next year. Of the total, 500 jobs are to come on stream by December.
