Chief Executive Officer of the Universal Service Fund, USF Suzette Buchanan has separated from the Agency.
A statement issued by the entity on Sunday said Ms. Buchanan’s last day at the helm of the organization was Friday, August 17.
It’s understood the Chairman of the Universal Service Fund Board of Management, Robert Lawrence, made the announcement.
He’s reported as saying the USF board thanks Ms. Buchanan for her service to the organization and wishes her the best in her future endeavours.
Mr Lawrence says the Agency will continue the execution of its projects as outlined in its Strategic Plan 2018-2021.
According to the statement, the Financial Controller of the Universal Service Fund will act as CEO until a suitable replacement is found following a recruitment exercise.
Ms Buchanan has come under fire in recent months for having hired her daughter to work in the agency she heads.
Her separation comes weeks after several other heads under the Science, Energy and Technology portfolios resigned.
Among those who have resigned in the last few months are former Energy, Science, and Technology Minister Dr Andrew Wheatley, Managing Director of NESOL Carolyn Warren along with several board members.
This after allegations of nepotism, cronyism and mismanagement at several of the state-run agencies to include Petrojam were reported and are currently being investigated.
Calls to the former CEO for a comment Sunday went unanswered.Ms Buchanan is a former CEO of Caymanas Track Ltd and a former board member. She also contested and lost the East Central St Catherine seat for the Jamaica Labour Party in the 2011 General Elections.
