Bump in UK Winter Visitors

Tourism officials expect a 16-percent increase in visitors from the United Kingdom for this winter tourist season, when compared to last year.

The projection is based on the growth in visitor numbers from the UK last year.

Between January and September in 2015, 149,000 British tourists vacationed in Jamaica, compared to 128,000 for the corresponding period in 2014.

Figures from the Jamaica Tourist Board say the country saw an 8-percent rise in the number of visitors from Europe in 2015, driven by growth in markets such as Ireland, Denmark and Finland.
