Burst Pipe Causes Emergency Room Flood at Cornwall Regional

A section of the Accident and Emergency area at the Cornwall Regional Hospital was flooded yesterday, after a pipe burst at the hospital.

A video circulating on social media shows staff standing on chairs and sitting on hospital beds to avoid the water, while patients are escorted out in wheelchairs.

In a statement last night, the hospital’s management says a pipe that supplies clean water to the hospital burst in the reception area just after 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

They say maintenance staff responded quickly and fixed the pipe.

Normality was restored by late afternoon.

The management says there was temporary inconvenience, but no damage was done.
