Bush Fires Pressure Manchester Fire Brigade

The Deputy Superintendent of the Manchester Fire Brigade, Neville Bennett, says his team has been placed under severe pressure, due to the increasing number of bush fires in the parish and a lack of resources to combat them.

Superintendent Bennett, says matters are made worse, by the fact that there’s only one fire unit to serve the entire parish.

Superintendent Bennett says fire fighting efforts are also being hampered by the severe drought gripping the parish.

He says efforts to fight a major fire yesterday, were undermined by a lack of water.
