Businessman Shot Dead During Altercation with Security Guard at Dream Weekend


A prominent businessman was killed at one of the parties of the popular ‘Dream Weekend’ series of parties being held in Negril, Westmoreland, this morning.

Dead is 37-year-old Jean Mathieu, who is from Kingston. He reportedly shot by a security guard at the Dream Life Party at Cayenne Beach in the parish about 3:15 this morning.

Reports are Mathieu was trying to enter the VIP area of the party with a female who didn’t have an armband permitting her to that area.

A security guard reportedly denied Mathieu entry.

It’s reported that Mathieu struck the security guard on a number of occasions and then pulled his licensed firearm and aimed at the security guard.

The security guard reportedly pulled his weapon and fired at Mathieu hitting him in his chest.

Mathieu was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Dream Weekend is a popular Independence Day party that attracts thousands and locals and tourists each year.
