Cabinet Approves LNG Pilot Project for JUTC Buses

Cabinet has approved a pilot project allowing for the conversion of Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC, buses to use Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG.

That’s according to Prime Minister Andrew Holness who made the announcement this afternoon.

He says the move shows the government’s commitment to energy efficiency.

He was speaking this afternoon at the official opening of Red Stripe’s new state of the art brewery at the company’s main plant on Spanish Town Road.

As part of its overall upgrading project, Red Stripe also converted its power plant to fully use Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG.

Prime Minister Holness lauded the switch over to a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel source.
