Cane Farmers Credit Samuda with Economic Growth

Chairman of the All Island Jamaica Cane Farmers’ Association, Allan Rickards, says the impressive growth in the agriculture sector for the July to September quarter should be greatly credited to portfolio Minister, Karl Samuda.

This, following news from the Finance Minister that the agriculture sector grew by over 28-percent between July and September this year .

The domestic agriculture sector grew by 43-percent. Mr. Rickards is describing the work of Minister Samuda as superlative.

He says Minister Samuda was able to make solid decisions in a timely manner.

Mr. Rickards says the previous Agriculture Minister, Derrick Kellier, had failed to make certain decisions which impacted the sugar industry negatively.

Meanwhile, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society, Norman Grant, says in order to continue on the positive trend, rehabilitation of farm roads must be addressed.
