Chairperson of the Cannabis Licensing Authority, CLA, Hyacinth Lightbourne, says she’s satisfied with the pace at which the agency is granting licenses.
This, in light of criticisms that the process is not moving fast enough to allow Jamaica to compete with major players that are already far advanced in ganja research.
The CLA has so far granted 27 conditional licenses, but no one has yet fulfilled the terms of a full license.

However, Science and Technology Minister, Dr. Andrew Wheatley, is reiterating his concern with the slow pace of licensing. He says security concerns shouldn’t be an excuse.
