CAPI Says No to INDECOM Oversight

Co-convenor of the lobby group Citizens Action for Principle and Integrity, CAPI, Dennis Meadows says the public must not allow politicians with special interests to derail the work being done by the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.

He was reacting to calls from National Security Minister, Peter Bunting and some members of a joint select committee of parliament, for the establishment of an oversight body for INDECOM.

The committee is currently reviewing the INDECOM Act.

Mr. Meadows says those calling for an oversight body are only doing so to find favour with the police.

Mr. Meadows says the country will pay a huge price if the independence of INDECOM is compromised.
