Cassava Piece and Gregory Pk Curfews Extended

The police imposed the curfew last Thursday following a flare-up of violence in the area.

The Cassava Piece community, the hometown of dancehall artiste, Mavado, remains tense following a recent incident in which the deejay was shot at by a gangster from the area.

Since that shooting, a man who’s said to be aligned to gunmen who opened fire on the deejay was also brutally murdered in Cassava Piece last Tuesday.

The following day, a woman and a man were left nursing gunshot wounds. The police then imposed a curfew which began at 6 o’clock last Thursday evening.

It was to remain in effect until 6:00 Saturday evening. But it has since been extended.

Meanwhile, over in the neighbouring parish of St. Catherine, a curfew that was imposed in sections of Gregory Park in the parish from last Tuesday has also been extended.

The curfew is now slated to end 6 o’clock this evening. This is the second extension of the curfew in Gregory Park.
