The Police are asking dancehall artiste Mavado to report to the Constant Spring Police Station by midday today.
The Constabulary believes Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, may be able to help with an ongoing investigation.
On Saturday, shots were fired at the deejay by a gangster in his hometown of Cassava Piece.
The deejay fled the scene and ran to the Constant Spring Police Station where he filed a report.
The request asking the deejay to report to that police station was posted on Twitter by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF.
The tweet also asked persons knowing Mavado’s whereabouts to contact them at 8769241421.
Head of the St Andrew North Police, Superintendent Glenford Miller, told Nationwide News efforts to locate the artiste since he filed his report have proven futile.
Superintendent Miller says they have since taken five men into custody for questioning who were found at the entertainer’s Norbrook, Upper St Andrew residence.
Among those being questioned in relation to the recent spate of violence in the Cassava Piece area is the artiste’s brother.
Meanwhile, a man who’s said to be aligned to gunmen who on the weekend opened fire on popular dancehall entertainer, Mavado, was brutally murdered yesterday in Cassava Piece, St. Andrew.
Dead is 23-year-old Lorenza Thomas, otherwise called ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’.
In a statement yesterday, the Police said Thomas was killed by unknown assailants at his home in Cassava Piece in Kingston 8.
Shortly before 4:00 o’clock yesterday morning, gunmen kicked open the door to Thomas’s house and shot him several times.
His attackers also used a machete to chop him. His head was partially severed. Thomas’s body was then set ablaze.
Cassava Piece has been tense since the weekend after Mavado was shot at by gunmen from the area. The artiste filed a complaint to the Police on Saturday. He then flew out of Jamaica to the United States.
A man was taken into custody in connection with the attack on the dancehall entertainer.
There’s no word from the Police about whether the killing of Thomas is connected to the attack on Mavado.
However, sources connected to the criminal underworld say Thomas was a member of a gang which attempted to kill Mavado on Saturday.
Some residents say the gunmen who attacked Thomas were imported into the area.
Thomas was shot and injured last year during a major gang war between gunmen in Cassava Piece.
That gang war is now intensifying.
