CCJ President on Parliament’s vote

The President of the Caribbean Court of Justice, Sir Dennis Byron, says Jamaica will be setting an example for the rest of the Caribbean if its parliament were to pass the three CCJ Bills.

In a vote along strict party lines, the House of Representatives yesterday approved the Bills, with the government using its majority to secure their passage.

However, the Bills will face a bigger hurdle when they go to the Senate on Friday, as they’ll need the support of at least one Opposition Senator.

Regardless of the outcome of the Senate’s vote on Friday, Sir Dennis says he’s still holding on to his dream for the CCJ.
