Chief Justice Sets Out Three Year Timeline for Transformation of Justice System

Chief Justice Bryan Sykes says he’ll transform the justice system in the next three years.

Justice Sykes– who was appointed under controversial circumstances says he’s committed to Courts delivering timely judgements, despite the limited resources available.

He says the transformation will include how people and court matters are treated.

He says technology now exists to track case flow in specific courts and how each judge presides over these matters.

Chief Justice Sykes says Senior Parish judges will now be called to be managers of the courts.

Chief Justice Sykes says all courts now have a data entry clerk to keep records. And Chief Justice Sykes says he’ll establish a team to focus on the management of courts.

The veteran jurist was fully confirmed in the post of Chief Justice, last week. That’s almost one month after Prime Minister Andrew Holness appointed him to act in the post and asked him to prove himself before he could be fully confirmed.
