As was expected, the ruling Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, and the People’s National Party, PNP, shared the spoils up for grabs in yesterday’s parliamentary and municipal by-elections.
The JLP’s Dr. Nigel Clarke will be the next Member of Parliament for North West St. Andrew.
Dr. Clarke won yesterday’s by-election in the constituency with 4,448 votes to the PNP’s Keisha Hayle’s 2,812.
Clarke will be replacing former MP Derrick Smith who resigned last month.
Meanwhile, voters in the Norman Gardens Division of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, KSAMC, chose the PNP’s Jacqueline Lewis to succeed former Councilor now MP, Dr. Angela Brown-Burke.
She beat out the JLP’s Headley Wilson with an overwhelming vote of 2,062 to 124.
