Caribbean Maritime University, CMU, has today confirmed Professor Ibrahim Ajagunna to act as the University’s President, effective today.
CMU’s University Council made the decision at a meeting yesterday.
Professor Ajagunna is Deputy to the President, as well as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
He’s worked at the CMU since 2006.
He takes on the acting role in the wake of a six-week voluntary leave of absence by the University’s President, Professor Fritz Pinnock, last week Friday.
The leave comes amid investigations into former Education Minister Ruel Reid, the Ministry of Education and the CMU.
In the meantime, Vice President of Technology and Innovation, Professor Noel Brown will act as Deputy to the President.
