Colin Campbell is to step down as the Managing Director of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC.
It’s understood that Mr. Campbell told the Gregory Mair led board last night that he would serve his last day at the helm of the company next Wednesday, May 11.
A statement from the JUTC this morning says Mr. Campbell told the board that he would not seek a renewal of his contract when it expires in the next 90 days.
The statement says a mutually satisfactory separation was agreed.
There’s been speculation that Mr. Campbell has been under pressure to resign from the JUTC since the change in administration.
Communications Specialist at the JUTC, Granville Newell, says Mr. Campbell served the company well and made a tremendous contribution in his two years Managing Director.
Colin Campbell, who is a former State Minister of Transport, was appointed JUTC Managing Director in August 2013.
He is a former Information Minister and ex-General Secretary of the PNP.
In March of this year, Mr. Campbell indicated that despite his close ties to the PNP, he would not resign following the JLP’s election win because he is not a political appointee.
