‘Confidence High Won’t Last’ – Chung

CEO of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, PSOJ, Dennis Chung, says he doesn’t believe the recent surge in business and consumer confidence will last.

A survey by Market Research Services for the first quarter of this year, shows confidence in the economy at the highest levels in 15 years.

Meanwhile, President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce, JCC, Warren McDonald, says he’s encouraged by the results of the survey, which is commissioned by his organization.

He says the next step is for consumer purchases to reflect the increased confidence and expectations.

However, Mr. Chung says although consumers may be holding off on big purchases, businesses are making a lot of investments.
