Cop Implicated in AK-47 Find, Awaits DPP Ruling

A file has been submitted the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a ruling on the Police Corporal who was arrested in connection with the seizure of two guns, including a rifle, and 30 rounds of ammunition.

That’s according to the 52-year-old’s attorney, Peter Champagnie.

The Corporal and another man were arrested by investigators from the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Division, C-TOC.

Both men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of an AK- 47 rifle with fifteen rounds of ammunition and a Taurus 9-millimeter pistol containing 15-rounds.

The operation took place along Myers Lane, Newlands, St. Catherine on Tuesday.

Reports are that about 8:00 pm, investigators conducted a snap operation in the area, when the weapons were seized and the two men were taken into custody.

The Taurus Pistol is reportedly the Police Corporal’s licensed firearm.

The illegal AK-47 rifle was reportedly found in the Policeman’s motor vehicle.

The Policeman is reportedly suspected of being involved with the notorious Umbrella Gang based in Portmore.
