A former Police Constable was sentenced to life in prison at hard labour today for the 2013 murder of his girlfriend.
Justice Lloyd Hibbert handed down the sentence today while the convict Lincoln McKoy stood emotionless in the prisoners dock at the Home Circuit Court in Downtown Kingston.
McKoy was arrested after his girlfriend, Jessia King was shot on August 14, 2013, during a dispute between the couple at the Errol Flynn Marina in Port Antonio, Portland.
McKoy reportedly pulled his service revolver and opened fire hitting King, who died on the spot.
McKoy then turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head. He was found guilty on April 13.
Justice Hibbert said McKoy would be eligible for parole after serving 25 years in prison.
During the trial, the Prosecution led evidence that King, was shot in the forehead and neck at close range and that McKoy then shot himself twice.
McKoy had denied any involvement in Miss King’s death or that he shot himself.
