The Police say arrangements are being made for them to question one of their colleagues who remains in jail this afternoon in connection with the seizure of two guns.
One of which is a high powered weapon with 15-rounds of ammunition.
The 52-year-old Police Corporal is being represented by Peter Champagnie.
Mr. Champagnie told our news center this afternoon that his client had not yet been questioned by the Police.
The Corporal and another man were arrested by investigators from the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Division, C-TOC.
Both men have been arrested in connection with the seizure of an AK-47 assault rifle and a Taurus 9-millimeter pistol containing 15-rounds.
The operation took place in Myers Lane, Newlands, St. Catherine on Tuesday.
Reports are about 8:00pm, investigators conducted a snap operation in the area, when the weapons were seized and the two men taken into custody.
The other man arrested is an 18 year old.
It’s understood that a third man who it’s suspected was the intended recipient of the illegal high powered weapon fled the scene of the operation and is still at large.
The Taurus Pistol seized is reportedly the Police Corporal’s licensed firearm.
The illegal AK-47 rifle was reportedly found in the Policeman’s motor vehicle.
The Policeman is reportedly suspected of being involved with the notorious Umbrella Gang which is based in Portmore St. Catherine.
