Police seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during separate incidents last week.
In the first instance team of officers assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division arrested and charged one man with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition during an operation on 8th Street, Arnett Gardens on Wednesday.
He is 26-year-old Duwan Benjamin, an air conditioner technician of Cardigan Crescent, Kingston 20.
Reports from the Denham Town Police are that about 1:30 a.m., lawmen were in the area when they saw Benjamin among a group of people at a party and his actions aroused their suspicion.
He was accosted, searched and one 9-millimeter Glock semi-automatic pistol with a magazine containing thirteen rounds of ammunition taken from his waistband.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
His court date will be announced later
Another man was taken into Police custody after a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were taken from his person on East Street in Greenwich Town on Friday.
Reports are that about 11:32 p.m., JDF officers were on patrol in the area when the man was observed acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.
He was accosted, searched and one Smith and Wesson 9-millimeter pistol nine rounds of ammunition was taken from his waistband.
He was subsequently arrested.
His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
