The St. Catherine South police are reporting a reduction in major crimes this year, when compared to the first 11 months last year.
That’s according to Deputy Superintendent Fitz Richards. He was addressing a Public Safety Forum at the Portmore Holiness Church last night.
DSP Richards, says several of the most dangerous criminals in the division are now behind bars.
He says crime reduction is expected to continue in 2016
Meanwhile, the head of the St. Catherine South Police, SSP Noel Christie, says there’ll be heightened Police presence in communities throughout the division this holiday season.
SSP Christie says the beefed up patrols are intended to deter the migration of criminal elements to Portmore.
