The Constabulary’s Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch, C-TOC, says several criminal charges have been laid on seven alleged members of the dangerous Westmoreland-based, King Valley gang.
The alleged gangsters are facing murder, gun and anti-gang related charges. They are to appear in Court on Thursday this week.
The seven alleged King Valley gang members were arrested last month during a major security forces operation in Westmoreland.
A statement on the weekend from CTOC says the alleged members of the King Valley gang were charged following question and answer interviews and identification parades.
Among those charged is Romaro McKennis, otherwise known as Ratty. He’s accused of being part of a criminal organization and facilitating the commission of a serious offence by a criminal organization.
Ratty has also been charged with murder and illegal possession of a firearm in relation to the 2016 killing of Lorenzo Beckford and a former member of the police force, Clinton Wedderburn.
CTOC Head, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Fitz Bailey says investigations show that members of the King Valley gang are responsible for more than 20 murders in Westmoreland over the past two years.
