CTOC Seizes $80m in Illegal Cigarettes


Detectives from the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch, C-TOC, seized more than 200 cases of counterfeit cigarettes on Dunbarton Avenue in St. Andrew yesterday.

Head of C-TOC, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Fitz Bailey, says the seizure amounts to more than $80-million worth of illicit goods.

ACP Bailey says 7 people were taken into custody in relation to the seizure. But, he says charges may not be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, ACP Bailey is reiterating that the proceeds from these illicit activities are used to fuel the purchase of illegal arms and ammunition.
