Nationwide News understands the former Councillor for the Yallahs Division, Dean Jones, won’t be going up for re-election.
His election was voided last month by Chief Justice, Bryan Sykes after he was found to have breached the Local Governance Act.
Following a meeting today with his party, Mr. Jones indicated he’ll not contest for the Division in the upcoming by-election. He has also resigned as Chairman for the Yallahs Division.
The Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, hasn’t yet named their candidate to contest the April 27th by-election.
Both the JLP and the People’s National Party are expected to officially name their candidates this afternoon. Nomination day for candidates is tomorrow.
