Conversations on the political platform by PNP Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips’ surrogates about his weight and image are being cited as distracting and irrelevant.

That’s according to Political Analysts, Kevin O’Brien Chang and Nadeen Spence who were speaking on Nationwide at 5 with Tyrone Reid and Franklin McKnight on Friday.

Dr. Phillips’ surrogate and PNP Vice President, Damion Crawford was among those who openly spoke about the party leader’s weight last week.

Mr. O’Brien Chang is contending that the issue of Dr. Phillips’ image will not be a major factor that delegates will contemplate when casting their vote.

Dr Phillips’ weight has been an issue of conversation for some time.

But has since gained traction due to the leadership contest from Presidential aspirant Peter Bunting.

At the launch of Dr. Phillips’ One PNP, Powerful together campaign last Thursday, Mr. Crawford attempted to rebuff the party leader’s critics.

But, Mr. O’Brien Chang says Mr. Crawford addressing Dr. Phillips’ image on the political platform was drawing negative attention to the PNP Leader.

Meanwhile, Ms. Spence says the criticisms about Dr.Phillips’ image is one of the worst ways to judge the quality of a leader.

In the meantime, Ms. Spence is contending that Mr. Bunting’s short video of him working out was a deliberate attempt to show up Dr. Phillips who had also released a video exercising in the gym.

And, Phillips surrogate, Caretaker for East St Andrew, Venesha Phillips is defending their decision to address the issue.

She says addressing the matter last Thursday was aimed at highlighting that persons should not be distracted from the quality of Dr. Phillips’ leadership by focusing on his image.
