Dominican Republic President Arrives in Jamaica Today

President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina Sánchez, will pay a one-day State visit to Jamaica today.

President Medina is scheduled to arrive at the Norman Manley International Airport at 10:00 a.m.

He will be met by Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen, Prime Minister, Andrew Holness and Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Rocky Meade.

There will be a 21-gun salute, and President Medina will inspect the Guard of Honour formed by the Jamaica Defence Force.

He will then travel to National Heroes Park, where he will lay a floral tribute at the Cenotaph in honour of those who died in the world wars.

President Medina will hold talks with the Prime Minister at Jamaica House on a range of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues.

The visit will be highlighted by the conferment of the Order of Excellence on the Dominican Republic President by the Governor General during a ceremony at King’s House.

President Medina will, in turn, confer the State Honour of the Dominican Republic on Prime Minister Holness.

He is also scheduled to receive a courtesy call from Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Peter Phillips.
