East Portland No Longer Safe PNP Territory, says Pollster

The pollster for the Jamaica Observer, Bill Johnson, says East Portland which was once considered a safe People’s National Party, PNP seat is now a marginal battleground.

He says it’s now leaning to the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP.

Mr. Johnson says his poll shows a 10 percent majority in favour of the governing Jamaica Labour Party’s candidate, Ann Marie Vaz.

Bill Johnson says Vaz’s approach to politics has found favour among the people.

Bill Johnson’s poll was conducted in the constituency on March 1 and 2, with a sample size of 480 people from 24 communities.

And Director of the Caribbean Development Research Services, Peter Wickham, says their poll conducted late last month showed the PNP leading the JLP by a big 26 percent margin in East Portland.
