Education Minister, Senator Ruel Reid, says the Ministry will be equipping the majority of Jamaican schools with closed circuit security television, CCTV, cameras.
He says the CCTV cameras will form part of the Jamaica Eye security network.
According to Minister Reid the cameras will also help to review incidents at schools.
He says it’s the government’s aim to have 80-percent of all school equipped with the CCTV systems in the next two years.
And Minister Reid says in an effort to improve safety and security at schools the ministry has equipped all high schools with metal detectors.
Senator Reid was speaking with educators and administrators from Regions 1, 2 and 6 last week in their annual back to school conference.
The conference is used to discuss policy positions in the education system for the coming year.
