Jamaicans in a number of parishes last evening experienced power outages again due to emergency load shedding.

The Jamaica Public Service company, JPS, says the load shedding was as a  result of generation shortfall from the power company and the independent power producers’ unit.

The power outage last evening affected the parishes of Clarendon, Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. Ann, St. James and Trelawny.

JPS says electricity was restored to residents across all seven parishes by 9:30 pm.

This is the second power outage due to load shedding in just over a week.

Last Tuesday, the power supply company says it was forced to carry out load shedding due to the unavailability of some generating units, belonging to JPS and the independent power producers.

Last week’s loading shedding affected the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, St Elizabeth, Westmoreland, St James, St Ann and Manchester.
