Energy Minister Responds: PCJ Closure A Part of Public Sector Rationalisation

Energy Minister, Fayval Williams, is confirming that the government is set to close the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica, PCJ, and subsume its functions into her portfolio ministry.

The PCJ is the parent company of the scandal scarred State-owned oil refinery, Petrojam.

Minister Williams says the move to subsume the functions of the PCJ into the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology forms part of the government’s rationalisation of the public sector.

Minister Williams says the move is not unique to the PCJ. She says skilled workers currently employed to the PCJ will be retained.
