‘Enough is Enough!’ – Gender Ministry Sends Strong Message to Domestic Abusers

Culture and Gender Minister, Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange is putting abusive men on notice.

Minister Grange was addressing the House of Representatives yesterday.

On Monday, Jamaica joined other countries around the world in commemorating International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

She says there will be 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

Minister Grange says the government is moving to establish more shelters for women facing abuse.

But, she says the process to establish the facilities is moving slower than she would have hoped.

Minister Grange says she’s confident Jamaica can eliminate gender- based violence and she’s calling on every citizen to join the fight.

She says the Bureau of Gender Affairs has implemented text lines for deaf persons facing abuse and has also presented its knowledge products in braille for those who are visually impaired.
