Exporters Association Aiming to Boost Earnings by 2019

President of the Jamaica Exporters Association, JEA, Michelle Chong says the JEA is working to increase Jamaica’s export earnings from USD$1.2-billion to USD$2.5-billion by 2019.

Addressing last week’s JEA Global Talk Speaker series, she said this plan will however require that players in the local export market collaborate more and compete less.

She says it is necessary for big companies to contribute by mentoring smaller companies and for small companies to open up to linkages, cooperation and help each other.

Chung says in order to take advantage of the 3.5 to 5-million in the Diaspora and an additional 7.4-billion people globally to export their products to, local exporters need to let the world know, that we are committed to the development of Jamaica.
