Prime Minister Andrew Holness says a claim by Opposition Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips that the Government has cut the national security budget is false.
Mr. Holness says the Opposition appears to have disregarded a $2-billion budgetary allocation which was spent on purchasing ships to help secure Jamaican waters.
Prime Minister Holness says the government has allocated an additional $2.6-billion to national security for this fiscal year.
Prime Minister Holness expanded on how the additional allocation to national security is being used.
Prime Minister Holness was responding to a question in the House of Representatives yesterday from Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips.
