Ferguson Wants Decisive Actions on Riverton

Health Minister, Dr. Fenton Ferguson says the time has come for the Simpson Miller-led Cabinet act to decisively in order to ensure that there’s no repeat of the severe impact the fire at the Riverton City dump is having on various sectors.

Abka Fitz-Henley spoke to the Health Minister today as he departed a function at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.

Dr. Ferguson says the budget of his Ministry is being hit hard by the severe impact of the fire and smoke nuisance on a number of persons who’ve been to medical facilities over the past few days.

He says the time for mere talk in relation to addressing problems plaguing the dump must come to an end.


Dr. Ferguson says he’ll recommending to Cabinet that it takes decisive actions regarding how the facility is being managed.


The Senior Cabinet Minister told our news centre it’s time to finally cauterize the wide ranging impact of fires at the Riverton City dump.

Air Quality Tests

Dr. Ferguson says some test results have been received which will provide information regarding the pollutants which have been released into the atmosphere due to the fire at the Riverton City Dump.
