FIFA Expands 2023 Women World Cup To 32 Teams


FIFA has approved the expansion of the Women’s World Cup from the existing 24 teams to 32 for the 2023 edition and reopened the bidding process for potential hosts.

The FIFA administration will also initiate a consultation process with the confederations in order to develop a proposal for the slot allocation, which will then require approval by the FIFA Council.

President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, says the success of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup made it clear that this is the time to keep the momentum going and take concrete steps to foster the growth of women’s football.
