Newly-appointed Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, says as the first holder of the office to be born post Independence, his job is to assist Prime Minister Holness in achieving an economically independent Jamaica.
Dr. Clarke was speaking this morning on Ask the OPM on Nationwide. He says Jamaica has not been the master of its own economic future.
Dr. Clarke notes that the country’s spending on debt and recurrent expenditure currently limits its ability to grow. He says achieving economic independence means more options regarding spending priorities.
