Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke says the trend in Foreign Direct Investments, FDI, is moving in the right direction.
Foreign Direct Investments are those made made by a firm or individual in one country into business interests located in another country.
In a statement on Sunday, the PNP said figures from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC, showed that FDI is down 17-percent in Jamaica while it’s up 20-percent in the rest of the region.
But, Dr. Clarke says the average FDI for 2016 to 2018 shows a 20-percent increase over previous years.
The Finance Minister says the importation of capital goods– those used mostly in the manufacturing and production sectors– is also showing improvements.
