President of Generation 2000 (G2K) Stephen Edwards, says the Tourism Product Development Company, TPDCo, hired him after due process.
G2K is the youth arm of the governing Jamaica Labour Party.
On Tuesday, Opposition Spokesman on Tourism, Dr. Wykeham McNeill reiterated allegations that four of G2K’s executive members were hired at the TPDCo.
G2K later refuted those allegations, saying only its President, Stephen Edwards, was employed at the organization.
Mr. Edwards says he’s fully qualified for his job.
Mr. Edwards says he believes that a person’s political affiliation shouldn’t take precedence over competence when being considered for a position.
He says this could lead to discrimination.
